CSR Projects for Wastewater Treatment & Odour Control in India

We design and implement CSR projects in wastewater treatment, odour control and sanitation across India, working with corporates, NGOs, municipalities and communities to deliver measurable environmental impact through proven biotech solutions.

Why CSR in Wastewater & Odour Control Matters in India

Team members standing at an open waste treatment or biomining field with buildings.

CSR initiatives in wastewater treatment and odour control play a critical role in improving public health, reducing environmental pollution and supporting sustainable development across India. Rapid urbanisation and increasing waste generation have made effective sanitation and odour management essential for both urban and rural communities.

Our Approach
We combine advanced biotechnology with on-ground implementation to deliver cost-effective and scalable CSR projects. By working closely with corporates, NGOs and local bodies, we ensure every project creates measurable and lasting impact.

Impact Delivered

  • Up to 90% reduction in foul odour and VOC emissions

  • Improved wastewater treatment efficiency across multiple sites

  • Successful implementation across municipal, rural and institutional environments

  • Positive impact on community hygiene and environmental quality

Gas Analysis Report Odour Control Project

We conducted a detailed gas analysis study at Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation to evaluate odour levels and measure the effectiveness of our odour control solutions in real-world conditions.

Project Overview

  • Site: Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation, Bhayandar West, Thane

  • Areas Covered: Biomining Area I, Area II and Shed I

  • Objective: Measurement and reduction of foul odour-causing gases in waste management zones

Gases Analysed

The analysis covered a comprehensive range of odour-causing compounds, including acetaldehyde, acetic acid, ammonia, butanol, ethyl acetate, hydrogen sulphide, methyl mercaptan, methyl sulphide, propionic acid, trimethylamine, total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) and sulphur dioxide (SO₂).

Implementation Approach

  • Baseline readings were recorded before treatment

  • Biotech-based odour control solutions were applied through misting systems

  • Post-treatment readings were taken to measure effectiveness

Gases analysed: Acetaldehyde, Acetic acid, Ammonia, Butanol, Ethyl Acetate, Hydrogen sulphide, Methyl mercaptan, Methyl sulphide, Propionic acid, Trimethylamine, TVOC, SO2

Results & Observations

  • Achieved 80–90% reduction in VOC emissions across treated areas

  • Significant reduction in foul odour levels in biomining and shed zones

  • Improved air quality and working conditions at the site

  • Consistent performance across multiple treatment cycle

Conclusion

The study confirms that our odour control solutions deliver reliable and measurable results in large-scale waste management environments, making them highly effective for CSR projects focused on sanitation and environmental improvement.

Project Blue Ecosystem

Amalgam Biotech in collaboration with Being Helper Foundation

We conducted a CSR activity at NIT Ghat, Patna, in collaboration with the Being Helper Foundation, with a focus on improving environmental hygiene around the Ganga River and nearby public areas.

The activity was carried out under Project Blue Ecosystem, a CSR initiative by Amalgam Biotech that brings together our environmental biotechnology products and community-focused work.

Project Overview

  • Site: NIT Ghat, Patna, Bihar

  • CSR Partner: Being Helper Foundation

  • Director: Shubham Kumar

  • Project: Project Blue Ecosystem

  • Focus: Ganga River, drain hygiene, odour control, insect management and organic waste treatment

  • Date of Activity: 14 July 2026

The activity was carried out with the required permissions from the concerned local authorities.

What We Did

The team worked on four key areas around NIT Ghat and nearby waste disposal locations.

1. Drain Treatment

A treatment tank was installed near the drain carrying household wastewater towards the Ganga.

The tank was prepared with OdoServe SOC, and the treatment mixture was released into the drain through a controlled drip arrangement.

The work was aimed at reducing foul odour and supporting better water and drain hygiene before the wastewater moved further towards the river.

2. Odour Control at the Waste Disposal Area

A nearby dumping area was producing strong foul odours, with residential areas located close to the site.

Amalgam Biotech provided spray machines and used CleanseServe Odor Control to treat the affected area.

The treatment was carried out to help control unpleasant odours and improve the surrounding conditions for people living nearby.

3. Fly and Mosquito Management

The rainy season can bring a rise in flies, mosquitoes and other insects around waste disposal areas.

The team used OdoServe Fly Away at the identified locations to help manage fly and mosquito activity.

This part of the activity was planned with the hygiene of nearby residential areas in mind.

4. Flower Waste and Organic Waste Composting

Flower waste and other wet organic waste were collected for composting.

BactaServe Composting was used during the activity to support faster decomposition of the organic material.

Amalgam Biotech provided 25 kg of the composting product, which can support the treatment of up to 25 tonnes of compostable waste.

The activity showed how flower waste can be handled through composting rather than allowing it to become another source of waste around public spaces and water bodies.

Products Used During the Activity

The following Amalgam Biotech products were used during Project Blue Ecosystem:

  • OdoServe SOC – used for drain treatment

  • CleanseServe Odor Control – used for foul odour control

  • OdoServe Fly Away – used for fly and mosquito management

  • BactaServe Composting – used for flower and wet organic waste composting

Results & Observations

The activity brought together several practical steps for improving the surroundings of NIT Ghat and nearby waste areas.

  • A treatment tank was installed for gradual dosing into the drain.

  • Waste disposal areas were treated for foul odour.

  • Fly and mosquito activity was addressed during the monsoon season.

  • Flower and wet organic waste was taken up for composting.

  • Local communities living near the waste disposal area were considered during the activity.

  • The work was carried out in coordination with Being Helper Foundation and with the required local permissions.

The activity also gave the teams an opportunity to demonstrate how biotechnology-based products can be used directly at community and public sites.

Recognition from Being Helper Foundation

Being Helper Foundation issued a CSR Certificate and a Letter of Appreciation to Amalgam Biotech for its contribution to the activity.

The letter recognised Amalgam Biotech's support through OdoServe SOC, CleanseServe Odor Control, OdoServe Fly Away and BactaServe Composting.

Media Coverage

The Project Blue Ecosystem activity also received coverage in newspapers across Patna.

The newspaper coverage can be displayed as a gallery showing the local response to the CSR activity.

Conclusion

Project Blue Ecosystem at NIT Ghat was a step towards better environmental hygiene around one of Patna's important Ganga-side locations.

Through the partnership with Being Helper Foundation, Amalgam Biotech was able to put its environmental biotechnology products to use at a community site, covering drain treatment, odour control, fly and mosquito management, and composting of flower and wet organic waste.

For Amalgam Biotech, this activity is part of a larger commitment to environmental care. Future CSR activities with the Being Helper Foundation will continue under the Project Blue Ecosystem name, with a focus on cleaner surroundings, better waste management and care for water bodies.
