Supporting Biological Treatment Under Anaerobic Conditions

Anaerobic wastewater treatment uses microorganisms to break down organic matter without supplying oxygen to the treatment process. Maintaining suitable operating conditions and nutrient availability is important for supporting the microbial population involved in this process.

NutriServe Anaerobic is a water-soluble micronutrient formulation intended for wastewater treatment systems that require supplementary micronutrients. It can be considered where additional nutritional support is needed for biological treatment.

Key Benefits of NutriServe Anaerobic

NutriServe Anaerobic provides micronutrient supplementation for biological wastewater treatment.

  • MLSS Settling Support: Supports sludge settling in clarifiers.

  • BOD Degradation Support: Helps microbial processes involved in organic matter breakdown.

  • BOD Shock-Load Management: Helps biological systems manage variations in BOD loading.

  • Flow Variation Support: Supports treatment processes during changes in wastewater flow.

  • Complex Organic Compound Breakdown: Supports biological processes involved in breaking complex compounds into simpler forms.

How NutriServe Anaerobic Works

Anaerobic microorganisms carry out biological reactions that break down organic matter without the supply of oxygen. These processes depend on suitable operating conditions and the availability of nutrients needed for microbial functions.

NutriServe Anaerobic supplies supplementary micronutrients to the treatment system. The formulation is intended to support microbial processes involved in organic matter degradation. Its dosage should be determined according to wastewater characteristics and treatment requirements.

Applications of NutriServe Anaerobic

NutriServe Anaerobic can be considered for biological wastewater treatment applications where supplementary micronutrients are required.

  • Industrial Effluent Treatment Plants: For biological treatment of industrial wastewater under anaerobic conditions where micronutrient supplementation is needed.

  • Sewage Treatment Plants: For sewage treatment systems requiring additional micronutrient support.

  • Anaerobic Biological Treatment Units: For treatment processes that rely on microbial breakdown of organic matter without supplied oxygen.

  • Systems with Variable Organic Loading: Where changing BOD loads create a need to assess additional support for biological treatment.

Composition of NutriServe Anaerobic

NutriServe Anaerobic contains a water-soluble proprietary blend of essential micronutrients.

  • Potassium

  • Magnesium

  • Manganese

  • Iron

  • Zinc

  • Molybdenum

  • Calcium

  • Cobalt

  • Copper

These micronutrients support microbial activity and biological wastewater treatment processes.

Dosage and Usage

The required dosage of NutriServe Anaerobic depends on wastewater characteristics and treatment requirements.

Recommended Dosage for General Sewage: 5 to 15 mg/L.

For ETP applications, the dosage may vary depending on the wastewater composition, process conditions and treatment objectives. Contact our technical team for guidance on the appropriate dosage and application procedure for your specific requirements.

Recommended Application Procedure

  • Use a 100 to 200-litre HDPE, FRP or PP dosing tank.

  • Mix the required daily dose of NutriServe Anaerobic with raw water.

  • Introduce the solution by gravity or pumping, distributing the daily dose continuously over 24 hours.

  • Position the dosing tank at the inlet end of the biological tank.

  • Alternatively, prepare the solution so it mixes with raw or partially treated effluent before entering the biological tank.

Adjust the dosage according to wastewater characteristics and treatment requirements.
