How Does the AmerAir Carbon Adsorption System Work?
Every AmerAir® unit is custom-engineered to optimise gas retention time based on the specific air volume, compound concentrations, and selected media type:
1. Ventilation
A high-pressure exhaust fan extracts foul air from contamination sources such as sewage wet wells, screen areas, sludge basins, or chemical storage vents and directs it into the treatment unit.
2. Mist Pre-filtration
Before entering the dry carbon bed, the air stream passes through an advanced pre-filter. This important step removes water droplets and mist, preventing moisture from condensing inside and blocking the carbon pores.
3. Deep-Bed Adsorption
The pre-treated air moves evenly through the granular carbon bed. Contaminants such as H₂S, amines, and organic vapours migrate to the active carbon surface sites, where they are securely trapped.
4. Clean Air Discharge
Fully purified and odour-free air is safely released through the top discharge stack.

In-Situ Water Regeneration Advantage
For target H₂S applications, AmerAir® incorporates high-performance catalytic, water-washable carbons. This media actively catalyzes trapped hydrogen sulfide into water-soluble sulfur compounds.
When the bed becomes saturated, it can be washed in-situ using regular water right inside the vessel, flushing away the captured sulfur and renewing the carbon's capacity up to 10 times without requiring physical media change-outs. AmerAir® carbons provide an outstanding loading capacity of 0.15 to 0.3 grams of H₂S per cubic centimeter (cc) of carbon.
